YMHS Bilingual Program Students Explore Culture and Communication on Educational Field Trip
On December 19, 2025, students from Bilingual Class 102 of Yang Mei Senior High School took part in a full-day educational field trip aimed at enhancing their English proficiency while fostering cultural awareness and real-world communication skills.
The morning session was held at the National Palace Museum, where students participated in a fully English-guided tour. As part of their learning task, students were required to locate and investigate selected artifacts, observing their historical significance and cultural meaning. The activity encouraged critical thinking and academic discussion, allowing students to practice English in an authentic and content-rich environment.
In the afternoon, the group traveled to Taoyuan International Airport to conduct English interviews with international travelers. During these interactions, students introduced Taiwan and Taoyuan’s local culture, highlighting representative attractions and traditions such as Daxi Old Street, traditional festivals, and well-known Taiwanese foods like Xiao Longbao and Bubble Milk Tea. The interviews provided students with valuable experience in cross-cultural communication and spontaneous English conversation.
Through direct interaction with foreign visitors, students gained confidence in using English to share their cultural identity and respond to real-life questions. Many students reflected that the experience helped them better understand the importance of clear communication and cultural presentation on a global stage.
This field trip demonstrated YMHS’s dedication to bilingual education by combining language learning with cultural exploration and practical application. By connecting classroom knowledge with real-world experiences, Bilingual Class 102 students developed both linguistic competence and a broader international perspective.
