The Bilingual Class 102 of Yang Mei Senior High School recently concluded a vibrant and meaningful 4-day online exchange program with a partner Japanese high school, organized in collaboration with With the World, Inc. The cultural and language exchange sessions were held on four Mondays—April 21, May 12, May 26, and June 9, 2025—between 14:30 and 16:00 Taiwan Standard Time.
The class was divided into two groups, each facilitated by dedicated educators—Miss Jessy led Group 1, while Lee-Ann guided Group 2. Prior to the exchange sessions, students participated in an orientation and equipment check to ensure smooth and effective communication. In preparation for each session, students submitted their presentations via a shared Google Drive two days in advance.
Each group explored a variety of engaging topics designed to promote cultural exchange and English language development.
Day 1: My Hobbies
Day 2: My Favorite Things / Products
Day 3: My Food Recommendations
Day 4: My Recommended Spots / Places
Day 1: My Hobbies, Recommended Foods and Sweets
Day 2: My Favorite Thing & My Favorite Place
Day 3: My Food Recommendations & Bucket List
Day 4: My Recommended Spots & Introduction of Proverbs and Famous Sayings
Throughout the program, students from both countries actively presented, asked questions, and exchanged ideas. The participants particularly enjoyed the opportunity to interact with their Japanese peers, often extending their connections beyond the classroom by sharing social media platforms.
The exchange not only allowed students to practice their English communication skills but also broadened their global perspectives and built lasting international friendships. It was a memorable experience that highlighted the power of collaboration, curiosity, and cultural understanding.
