Building Global Awareness Through Training and Cultural Practice
During the winter break of the 114th academic year, Yang Mei Senior High School organized a series of international exchange–related training programs aimed at strengthening students’ bilingual communication skills, cultural awareness, and readiness for future international engagement. Through carefully designed courses and experiential learning activities, the school continued to demonstrate its commitment to bilingual education and internationalization.
One of the key components was the International Exchange Volunteer Training Course, conducted in collaboration with the Red Cross. Through thematic lectures and interactive learning activities, students explored the core values of humanitarian service, volunteer ethics, and global citizenship. The course emphasized teamwork, social responsibility, and international perspectives, helping students develop a deeper understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in international volunteer service.
Another highlight was the Winter International Exchange Reception Training Camp, which focused on preparing students for potential future interactions with international visitors. Although no actual foreign guests were received during the program, students participated in hands-on cultural learning activities. These included learning how to prepare bubble milk tea as well as traditional Taiwanese desserts such as taro balls, sweet potato balls, and red bean soup. Through these activities, students learned how Taiwanese food culture can be introduced as an engaging and meaningful form of cultural exchange.
Through these thoughtfully designed winter programs, YMHS continues to integrate language learning with cultural practice and global awareness. By providing students with experiential learning opportunities and an internationally oriented learning environment, the school is actively cultivating confident, culturally aware learners who are well prepared for future international exchange opportunities.
