Anderson
Taiwan
I am Huang-Jen Chen; students call me Teacher Anderson. I graduated from the Master program of TESOL, National Kaohsiung Normal University, specializing in second language writing. In my leisure time, I enjoy doing exercise, singing and going to cinemas. Actually, I am a big fan of movies. I often share insights and inspirations I gain from good works with my students. My favorite films include Seven, The Thin Red Line, Blade Runner 2049, the Spider-Man series, and more.
Spider-Man is what you would associate me because I have it pervade my daily life and surroundings. I live by Spider-Man’s philosophy: With great powers comes great responsibility. It is this belief that prods me to usher my students in a variety of English challenges and reap a lot.
A Grateful Past (2012-2019)
Before coming to YMHS, I worked in Chiao-Tai Senior High School, Taichung, for 9 years, as a homeroom teacher, chairperson of the Department of Applied English, and chairperson of the Language Center. During those years, I accumulated rich and fruitful experiences in guiding students to make projects in English. Over the years, my students achieved first, second place in the nationwide project making contest hosted by MOE. Apart from that, I guided students to gain “the Golden Hand Award” two times in the nationwide skill competition.
A Delightful Present (2019-present)
I have been part of the experimental bilingual program in YMHS since its establishment. In addition to the regular English course, I also facilitated other elective courses to our bilingual classes, citing “Novel Reading,” “English Briefing” and “News Reporting and Writing” for example. I also coordinate and facilitate various administrative affairs and foreign teachers’ teaching in the bilingual classes. Being a member of the bilingual family is not only a delightful experience but also an ambitious calling.
A Growing Future
Never will I cease to polish my English and teaching profession. So, I will keep gearing up for bilingualism and providing quality education for my students. As always, being a teacher bestows upon me “great power and great responsibility.”
