On May 7th, 2025, the bilingual students of Class 302 from Yang Mei Senior High School embarked on an educational trip to Taipei, accompanied by Mr. Gary Wen, Bilingual Program Chief; Miss Jessy Silva, Foreign English Teacher from the Philippines; Ms. Brenda Liu, English teacher of Class 302; Mr. Brian, the Bilingual Program Assistant; and Mr. Sam, the homeroom and math teacher.
Despite the rainy weather, the students’ spirits remained high as they visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in the morning. There, they listened attentively to two inspiring speakers. The first speaker emphasized the role and significance of public diplomacy in Taiwan, encouraging students to reflect and share their ideas on how young people can contribute to international understanding. The second speaker, an experienced international ambassadress, shared her journeys abroad, her engagements with global leaders, and the various MOFA programs designed to enhance Taiwan’s global presence and partnerships. She also highlighted youth-oriented initiatives, which resonated deeply with the students.
The students eagerly connected what they learned to their own experiences, particularly their participation in international online exchange classes led by Miss Jessy. Their insights reflected a strong awareness of how public diplomacy begins with understanding and cultural exchange at a young age.
In the afternoon, the group continued their cultural exploration with a visit to the iconic Eslite Bookstore. There, they immersed themselves in a vibrant collection of art exhibitions and browsed books that could enrich their academic and personal growth as they prepare for college.
The day offered a meaningful blend of diplomacy and discovery, leaving Class 302 inspired and more globally minded than ever.
