Highlights from the International Virtual SDG 9 Roundtable Exchange
In a world where interconnectedness and collaboration are paramount, fostering global awareness and cooperation among young minds is crucial for addressing the pressing challenges of our time. Recently, Yang Mei Senior High School took a bold step in this direction by hosting the International Virtual SDG 9 Roundtable Exchange with the theme "Green Horizons: Exploring Careers that Protect the Planet". This innovative online initiative brought together high school students from six different countries to delve into Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.

The event, held on May 14th, from 2:00 to 3:30 PM (GMT +8, Taipei), kicked off with an inspiring opening ceremony led by Miss Jessy Silva, a foreign English teacher at Yang Mei Senior High School. Miss Silva eloquently outlined the rules and mechanics for the exchange, setting the stage for an engaging and fruitful dialogue. An interactive icebreaker session using Quizizz followed, allowing participants to explore their knowledge across three categories: country, careers, and SDG 9. The top five participants were acknowledged for their exceptional performance.

Subsequently, students transitioned to breakout rooms, each facilitated by a student from Yang Mei Senior High School serving as a moderator. Within these rooms, participants engaged in thought-provoking discussions, with one presenter and one inquirer from each participating school, along with an evaluator from the school's bilingual program. Observers were also welcomed to witness the exchange, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and collaboration.
The roundtable discussions provided a platform for students to voice their perspectives on various issues related to SDG 9, ranging from trending careers to sustainable economies and environmental preservation. Over the course of more than 40 minutes, participants from diverse backgrounds shared common challenges and exchanged ideas, highlighting the power of collective action in addressing global issues.

Returning to the main room, Weifen Su, a teacher from the bilingual program, shared insights into initiatives aimed at enhancing international competitiveness among students, particularly focusing on equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to SDG 9. The anticipation for the awarding of Best Presenters and Inquirers filled the virtual space. After much deliberation, the evaluators revealed the exceptional contributors to the roundtable exchange
